Starting a job at the Burbank Airport in a few weeks and I'm searching for a place to live.

Sherman Oaks & Studio City seemed to have nice places, but I don't know much about this area of California. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom apartment, no more than $1550 per month is preferred.

Also, I'm debating whether Valencia/Santa Clarita is worth it, but I do not know if the commute would be worth it for any rent savings. Thanks for any help and advice!

Congrats on the job.

Why not just live in Burbank? It's a nice place to live and you should definitely be able to find 1bedrooms under $1550/mo.

I don't think driving to Valencia/Santa Clarita is worth it, I don't really know if you'd be saving much in rent anyways.

Have you already ruled out living in Burbank for some reason?

Check out Los Feliz, Silverlake and Echo Park, all nearby Burbank - and as jm 1982 said, Burbank is fine. You can always get a month to month place in Burbank and check out other areas and move if you want!
