My husband and I are moving to LA at the beginning of January. Neither of us will have jobs when we get there (although my husband is a carpenter and has talked to a few companies out there that sound promising). Our original plan was to rent a storage unit to put all of our stuff in and stay with friends until we had jobs (any job!) and then get an apartment (all within a few weeks ;-).
But I'm wondering if it would be possible to get an apartment asap after we arrive, without a job? We have a substantial savings, good credit, and a history of steady jobs. Any thoughts on getting apartments without proof of income? Possible? Crazy impossible?

Thanks so much!

We just did the same thing. You're going to need to confirm your savings with the property managers. Or once you get "any" job they just need to get a hire letter from your employer.

Did you apply for your apartment and get it before you moved to LA or did you get it after you arrived (if so, how soon did you get it?)
