We may be taking a job at CHLA which is near the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset.

We'd like to be within 20 minutes of the hospital. Are there areas within this distance that have good public schools (all the way through high school)? We looked at la canada and south pas, but they were a little too far away.

thanks

That's odd, usually they sort of go hand in hand.

often times elementary schools perform well in expensive neighborhoods, but middle schools and high schools are generally poor across LAUSD (with a few exceptions like El Camino and Pali)

Yeah, there are good elementary schools in Los Feliz, specifically Franklin Elem. Los Feliz Elem isn't as good right now, but they are converting it to a STEM magnet school next year so it's rating should jump up. King Middle School and Marshall HS are decent, but not the best. It's one of those situations where there is a group of really good students that do very well, and another group that doesn't take school seriously, so they average out and the middle school and HS as a whole have average ratings.

You won't be able to beat the commute from Los Feliz, but for schools and cheaper property Burbank or Glendale are probably better choices.
