LA has tons of upsides. It's hard to name them all, especially since right now I take them for granted. Once I'm in college and maybe not in SoCal, I'll regret that I took some stuff for granted.

90% flawless weather in most places
Availability of nearly every good (ethnic foods, obscure electronic parts, parts for old cars being restored, etc.) and service (expertise and labor)

Lots of competition for services (car wash, lawn care, The Recycler, etc.) so it is not too expensive
Freshest fruits and vegetables

Climate allows savings on energy (heating and some places A/C)

Swimming (lap) outside 52 weeks a year

Cheap Sushi (Crazy Tokyo on Ventura and Topanga half price menu, fresh, hand made....will be eating there in a couple of weeks...)
