the 405 through the sepulveda pass is the most used stretch of freeway in the entire country. however, it is also quite wide and being widened even more. because of that, i'd say the 5 freeway south of downtown LA is the worst for congestion.

I was thinking that too, but I think that this poll is really relative to where you drive the most. The landscaping along the 5 going south from DT is truly the ugliest that I've ever seen. It's dry as desert with litter all over the place. At least, the drive along the 405, 101 (LA part), 134 and 110 (Highland Park, So Pas part) are somewhat attractive to look at.

The 10 near Santa Monica is never ever smooth. Well maybe at 2am.

The 91 near corona is horrible as well.

The 101 South heading to downtown.
The 110 North heading through downtown.
The 405 S from Sherman Way in the morning.
The 405 N from the 90 in the afternoon.

The 101 between downtown and Hollywood is the worst. There can literally be a jam anytime day or night. The 405 is mostly free of traffic outside of rush hour(s) but you still get random jams. Just not as frequently. The 5 is worse than the 405, but still mostly during rush hour. Then maybe the 10. Then the 110. The rest aren't even close.

The Century Freeway gets bad...if you travel the 110 from Terminal Island, the 110 jams from the 105. The ramp from the 105 is clogged while the 110 moves past the delayed ramp until it all slows down. The 91 is also a pain in the neck. The Arroyo Seco moves perfectly even at rush hour, until the 5 interchange. From the 5 up until the 10, it is jammed. The Foothill Freeway gets bad by I-605. Even the 15 gets bad, which is way out.

The worst freeway in LA, is the one YOU are on, when YOU need to get somewhere quickly and it's jammed.
