There are 87 neighborhoods in the City of Los Angeles. Here is a map, but not everyone agrees about the boundaries. I'm easily entertained, I guess, but I had fun looking at this!

Those are neighborhoods, not cities. You can't have a city in a city. Cities are places like Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Pasadena, etc with their own city council, laws, and often their own police and fire departments.

Oh man... this is going to flood the LA Time's website with e-mails! For the record, those are neighborhoods in the city of LA. Definately fun to look at.
