Hi!

I'm technically an LA native, but i have spent all my time here living in San Pedro so I am somewhat unfamiliar with the rest of the LA area. I recently got a job in Huntington Park, and I have moved back in with my parents (hopefully a super temporary situation) so I am commuting from San Pedro to Huntington Park (45 min). I would like to move out (Again) and find a place preferably with a shorter or equal commute to what i have now. But being a young single woman safety is a real priority and it seems like mostly what I can afford is in sketch neighborhoods. I don't need much space but I do need a kitchen with at least a stove/oven combo. I can even provide my own fridge! A studio would be fine my budget is around $750 a month.... which areas would you guys suggest I look?

Thanks A Bunch!

I would check Koreatown. I lived there for a couple of months. It overall seems to be a decent neighborhood and is within your price range.

I agree you should check out koreatown, but it is no longer that cheap. Was looking for studios there last year - 800-1000 range is more realistic IMHO. Lots of people on here keep recommending it, which is good and all, but with an outdated view of the prices in that area...sorry to burst your bubble. You could find a bachelor in that price range though...but again, you need a kitchen.

Commute from HP from ktown will make you wanna kill yourself. Actually commute from San Pedro to HP would not be bad because traffic would be in opposite directions. Ktwon is expensive and although alot 'safer' than before it is far from it.

See if there is anything in your price range in Downey.

$750 is gonna be hard to find in in a decent spot in LA. Other than K-Town. Maybe certain parts of Echo Park / Atwater Village? You could find a route that's against traffic. Personally, not a fan of K-Town; it's always gridlocked when I'm there.

Not sure where you can find an $750 apt in ktown. Downey is an option. Been a resident of both Downey and ktown and I choose Downey anyday.
