Both have excellent schools, but Burbank is more convenient to L.A. and is more walkable. It also bosts more amenities than La Canada, which is only convenient to Pasadena if it could be considered convenient to any major destination in the L.A. area. Burbank, besides its own attractions and amenities, is convenient to those of Studio City/Universal City/NoHo, Hollywood, Silver Lake, and downtown LA. La Canada is more remote.

Well I don't quite agree with your assessment other than the more walkable part.

Both La Canada and Burbank are the same distance to downtown LA (17 minutes) and at rush hour La Canada will ALWAYS be closer due to the 2 being the fastest freeway in LA.

While Burbank is by no means a bad school district with an API of 847, La Canada is the superior school district (top 5 in CA) with an API of 948 in 2013.

Also, La Canada is just as convenient to Glendale, Eagle Rock, and all those amenities as it is to Pasadena.

The OP stated he was looking to eventually purchase a 5 million dollar home. There is currently 1 house listed at $2 M in Burbank compared to about two dozen between $2-5 M listed in La Canada.

Finally, the OP was interested in golf and country clubs. There is one in La Canada proper (LCF Golf Club) and then 4 more (Scholl Canyon, Brookside, Chevy Chase, and Oakmont) within a 10 minute drive. Burbank only has DeBell (meh), Wilson (municipal) and Lakeside within a 10 minute radius.

I just think La Canada is more in line with the criteria listed by the OP as it is a much more affluent area. Bottom line, Burbank is a middle class area. I clearly could be mistaken, but I don't think that's what this guy is looking for.
