and commuting to Orange?

Moving back to CA at the end of May and my gf will be starting her residency at Children's OC in Orange. A lot of the residents said they live in Belmont Shore and then drive over. Without traffic, that looks like it should take ~ 25 minutes. How bad does it get at rush hour? Also, what is the appeal of living there? Proximity to the beach & downtown Long Beach?

On a slightly related note, how feasible would it be to commute from there to downtown LA? Google maps said taking the blue line would be 2 hours. . .

The ride from DTLB to 7th/Metro is one hour... how are you getting two hours... unless you are including all the local bus transfers?

I dunno man! That's what google spat out the first time I searched it and it was from Belmont to Union Station.

Looks like going to 7th/Metro will be about an hour thirty.

Do you mean the train? Isn't 7th/Metro where the Blue Line terminates? (Welcome back, btw)

Going back to Cali

It is against traffic and a pretty fast drive. She'll hit just a little at the 22 to the 405 but then opens wide up.

Thanks, I am looking forward to some nice weather. Currently it is 22 F and "spring" supposedly came last week.

I'm still looking at apartments in Orange or Anaheim with the possibility of taking Metrolink into DTLA. I know it's not the OC board, but does anyone have any recommendations/ opinions of those two cities? Or for that matter, living there vs. Belmont Shore/Heights.

Belmont shore is a classic example of a CA beach town. It can't be beat in my opinion. The only for areas on par in OC are going to be way south in Dana point or San Clemente.
