Young people do things like moving to different cities and trying them out. Better to life a life when you're young enough to do things, instead of turning into a washed up old person who is full of regrets.

Immigrants often come to the California or the US with nothing and a number of them find ways of making it.
Yes, but (illegal) immigrants are willing to do backbreaking work for LESS than minimum wage, live in cockroach infested slum apartment buildings with no air and poor plumbing in gang infested areas with nearly daily shootings, although the killing rate is down, where one dares not venture at night with lots of low scummy folk. While this is an improvement for an immigrant who comes from a small village in Central America where there is NO work and even LOWER pay if they find it, this is an unacceptable lifestyle to any US native, especially some kid from Texas.

IMHO, I think the OP may just be trolling for one of those long "you aint gonna be a star and here's why" post. On the other hand if the kid is for real, I say, let the kid try it. He'll only know if he tries and no one can talk him out of it at this stage. I just ask that he share his experience with us to see how it turns out.

Your problem is getting a visa. THAT should be your first concern. IF you are able to get one, work in your field, and take acting classes at night. And work out a deal with your boss where you can take time off for auditions.

You do realize that the cost of living here is extremely high compared to TX? My advice to you is to stay home before this city chews you up and spits you out.
That is the best advice here.
