Lakewood was named the most boring city in California!?!?!

Why would they rank a suburb as opposed to a metro/micropolitan area? That's ridiculous. Lakewood is a good place to buy a house or enjoy a standard, generic american restaurant. It's the place to go for the foods you see in tv commercials and generic stores that couldn't find enough cheap land to build in Long Beach. I don't think they advertise to the hipster crowd like LA or Long Beach or San Diego.

It would be like ranking Elk Grove, Lemon Grove, or Garden Grove against Sacramento, San Diego, or Anaheim. It's a Grove kinda town.

Talking What Lakewood need is...

If the city of Lakewood is willing to host a semi type Mardi Gras version of New Orleans... I'm there.

Even more boring than Cypress.

Yeah I don't get this rating. Might as well throw up any 'burb, and just say "most boring city", heck half the cities in South OC could win this contest. At least Lakewood is right next to Cerritos which has some of the best Filipino/Indian/Pakistani restaurants in SoCal.

It's more boring than even the most boring suburbs. Even in your defense of the city, you said the word "generic" twice.

There are much worse and boring cities than Lakewood. At least it has decent restaurants and shopping. Overall it's a good solid decent middle class So Cal city. I'm not sure how you would exactly rate "exciting" I would think places like Hollywood/Santa Monica might be considered "exciting" but all that is really subjective.

It is a great city with safe neighborhoods, good parks, and it's close to jobs in Long Beach, Cerritos, the port, etc...

I'm not bashing Lakewood, but it's not an exciting 24/7 city and most people pay extra to be in a safe, quiet area. If they could get their own school district, like they've wanted forever, I think home values would go up even further.

I had never heard of Lakewood until this post. I think Colorado has a town with the same name and I had heard of that one. Go figure.

It must be more interesting than Barstow, from some of the prior posts I have read. With decent restaurants and shopping in Lakewood (assuming a prior post is accurate), there must be a few more boring cities. I once decided to stay in Barstow for more than just a quick fast food stop and to fill the tank. Now that was boring. At least it was not summer or it could have been miserable.

Barstow is far more interesting than Lakewood. Even more than the one in CO.
