I'm from Australia and planning our honeymoon for April 2008. We are coming to LA, Anaheim and a few other places around USA. I wanted your opinion on the following. Should we do Universal Studios in LA and Seaworld in San Diego or go to Orlando and do the two theme parks there? We also want to visit Magic Mountain and Disneyland whilst in LA area.?

LA isn't a honeymoon kind of town. It's stressful to travel here. Might not make a great start to your marriage -- bickering with each other about who took the wrong exit off the freeway.

Yeah. I would have to agree. San Diego is much better for that, but still not great.

Now, Orlando is great. Go there for a little, then head over to one of the beach cities.

We weren't planning on doing any driving. Here is Australia we drive on the other side of the road - could get interesting. When are your school breaks?

Well, I don't attend LA Unified School District so mine are different. I think I get off early April, while the other millions of LAUSD students get off in March. So, mid to late April would be okay to avoid the LAUSD masses that visit the beaches, San Diego, Santa Barbara, etc. and there won't be all the holiday traffic. I don't know about SDSU though.

Not invading your personal life (I would if I was George Bush. He's an idiot), but, I don't know if a the stress of a SoCal theme park's lines and traffic would be good for a honeymoon. I would suggest somewhere like Laguna Beach or somewhere in Orange County with a romantic beach city, Hawaii (one of the most popular honeymoon destinations), or Florida.

I hate to be negative, but if you don't plan to drive, I think you're going to be disappointed and frustrated visiting the L.A. area.

As someone else suggested, Laguna Beach might be a good place for you if you really want to be in the L.A. area; otherwise, I think you should look elsewhere. If you have your heart set on California, try San Francisco, Santa Barbara, or San Diego. All three are much less stressful, especially without a car.

A little more info for you from my favorite survey about U.S. cities:

So between 1 April - 5 April 2008 the lines at the theme parks are going to be hectic because of school break. I have never been to USA before so the theme parks are the most exciting bit for me - plus I love a good roller coaster.

It will be quite crowded, but then again, everything in LA is crowded. If you love roller coasters, definitely go to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita which is about 30 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles. They have some of the most extreme coasters in the world. But, it can get hot there. I don't think it will be too unbearable in the spring though.
