Not a bad hood by any stretch.
Seriously, there is nothing at all wrong with Westwood. It's still a very nice and chill area.

Westwood is alright, but there are probably a lot of people that know it from the wild days..that was before my time. But it sounds like there were a lot of different clubs, bars and lot's of foot traffic too.

This was Westwood Village 1983

I've never seen it like that. I always know it as a pretty quiet area...but now there are lot's of other areas and not everything in terms of nightlife is as concentrated on the Westwood.
The 'hipper' parts of town area actually further East and in DTLA these days.

Yeah I've never seen it like that. Though these days I think it is just a notch below somewhere like say, Old Town Pasadena. It's not at the level of activity of a Hollywood or Santa Monica for sure. The last time I was there I was at the Hammer (cool space btw) and there was definitely decent pedestrian activity, and a ton of people using the Westwood Blvd Rapid Bus.

I remember. It was actually kind of a yahoo scene but a really good mix of all kinds of people from everywhere. Surprisingly, as Westwood was more remote commute-wise. Unsurprisingly shut down too, eventually, considering how the 80s evolved (in all the nation's cities).

These days Westwood actually seems even more active than before as a business center, if not a social one.

Westwood needs the purple line bad. It could be more popular but to get there is a pain even if you live in West LA.

Yeah and parking is pretty bad too. Especially if you want to grab something quick it's very difficult.
I work nearby and sometimes think of going there after work but the crazy traffic and parking are a big deterrent.

If it could be more like Culver City with how the structures are it would be better.

If you wanna grab something for like $8 or so for dinner it seems like you have to pay quite a bit just to park.

Or if you want to even grab a coffee or something.

I think there are a lot of people that would visit and spend money there if it wasn't as inconvenient/expensive to park.

Do any college towns have great parking? Westwood's parking is considerably better than around the Hollywood hills, where I am...
