Hey,

I'm moving to LA next month for work. I'll be there for about 3 months, maybe a tad more. I will be working in Culver City. Could anyone recommend a safe neighborhood that won't be a crazy commute? If I could I'd like to live in Culver City for the duration. However I've been looking at listings on Airbnb & Sublet.com and it looks like the average price for just a room is around $1500. I'd really like to rent a studio if I could. $1600 would be the maximum I could pay though.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Andy

i'm surprised you can get that price for such a short term.

You mean the Airbnb price? That price is just for a room within somebodies apartment, seemed a bit steep to me.

I don't need to be in Culver city, although it would be nice for a shorter commute. I'm just not too familiar with LA so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a safe neighborhood no more than say 30 mins drive away from Culver City thats a bit cheaper.

Check craigslist for room shares. You would get your own room in someone's apartment. Rents anywhere in West LA are high, so you probably can't find your own apartment for much less. You can maybe get a studio or very small 1 bedroom in Culver City for that price, but it won't be nice or in a good part of the city.

My only other suggestion would be Palms/Mar Vista.
