What do you mean by "city area"? What does that mean?

Both L.A. and Houston are enormous, sprawling cities. As big as Los Angeles is, Houston is even bigger, MUCH bigger,
and more sprawling in every direction.

L.A. is more 'urbanized'; it's built up from one end to the other, for the most part.
From Sylmar to Watts, it's all built up (except for the mountains, of course).

Houston is built up in sections, and has alot of bayou and 'blank spaces' within the city limits. Lots of undeveloped land and rural areas.

And Austin isn't anywhere near the size of either. You can't compare.
