So i'm from philadelphia, i study fashion and was contacted about an internship in los angeles, vernon to be exact - my brother and his family live in studio city; however, i don't drive! i know its near impossible to get around in LA without a car... but from studio city to vernon? are there any alternatives? i'm 21 and i've grown up in philadelphia and lived in new york and rome for short periods so i've just never really cared about learning to drive! hah - help, please.

Welcome back to LA the MTA is the transit agency that covers nearly all of LA County. metro.net | Transit Services and Information for Los Angeles County will give details how to get between Vernon and Studio City. Just type the address or major intersections on the front page of the web site and it will give information you'll need. By the way it gave Metro Buses. Line 218, Line 105 and Rapid Line 705(105 and 705 run on the same route however 705 is faster because of fewer stops and synchronized lights on Ventura Blvd and in Downtown LA makes the 715 a better choice.)

Hope thats helps.

just the line 105 portion of that bus ride would take two hours at rush hour. could you learn to drive before next summer?

How are you going to get around when you're not commuting for work?

You can take public, but you'll need a lot of extra time. I took a five mile bus trip yesterday and it took about 40 minutes.

live ion downtown and you will be less than two miles from vernon, or live on the west side. vernon is just south east of downtown. there is no housing in vernon, unless your a leonis or malburg or whatever family runs that place. good luck. but there is not need to be in the valley. if thats where your siblings live, let them live there and you offer a different perspective. thats what it great about LA. plenty of places to live in and see.
