KLOS was playing Greta Van Fleet today. It is so Led Zeppelinish that it's actually RIDICULOUS.

KNAC was the shhh back then. Big hair bands, the whiskey, the Roxy, Palladium, lines around the block, The fluorescent Beverly Center, good times.

When I was a kid I used to record the "Mandatory Metallica" show on KNAC. Dangerous Dan and Pounding Pat were the hosts. I still have about 20 cassette tapes of my recordings of the show.

At first KLOS (mainly because they listened to it at work), but I got tired of them quickly and went to KMET in the fall of 1981. They played it all--old rock, current, metal, some new wave. Great personalities (especially Cynthia Fox, what an appropriate name) Then KMET messed with their format, still rock, but dropped metal, put some songs ina Top 4o style heavy rotation, blah. So back to KLOS in 1985, but then in January 1986, I discovered the new KNAC (Pure Rock) and I was hooked. I listened pretty much the whole time they were on in that format. After they flipped to Espanol; in 1995, I was pretty much done with radio in L. A.

KLOS had some good female jocks--Tawn Mastery (RIP), Lady Di, Animal Annalee, one other that I don't remember. They all did a spread in some magazine I can't remember in swimsuits, nice! Those were good times

I still have my KNAC Pure Rock 105.5 t-shirt. I live in South Florida now, but every once in awhile, I put it on. I'm sure the locals are like WTF?

I know it's been a few years, but wanted to correct my post. The female DJs I mentioned were at KNAC, not KLOS. The one I forgot was Forbidden Phyllis.

Remember Tawn Mastery? She was pretty cool. I remember listening to her on KNAC as well as Pirate Radio 100.3.

Yup.

I would listen to KNAC down in SD. Even had my black&white KNAC sticker on my car as a counter to all the B100/FM stickers people had on their cars.

Wolfmother is another band that you can tell listened to a few Zep albums in their upbringing.

B100 was a local SD FM station that played bland safe boring pop music.
