Culver City, Vicinity of Los Angeles. (Orange, Compton: apartment complex, for rent, neighborhood)

I have been thinking of moving to Culver City which is around the vicinity of Los Angeles, California. I think it is not as expensive as areas of West Hollywood or Los Angeles area in general.

I would like to attend UCLA to acquire my Bachelors and perhaps my Masters Degree in International Business. Culver City is very close to UCLA that is why I considered it.

So my question for people who know Los Angeles much more then I do, is Culver City a desirable location? It seems that it is in a better neighborhood as opposed to places like Compton or East L.A.

My job would be of a banker in the future.

As for rent. Is it possible to find an apartment below 1 thousand dollars in Culver City?
What about the traffic? I know no matter where you are in Orange County/Inland Empire/Los Angeles there will be traffic anywhere you go. But how is the traffic problem in Culver?

yes Culver City is better than Compton or East LA.

You might want to live even closer to UCLA though. If rent is the same or nearly the same, then try to live as close as possible to the campus, especially as an undergrad when you might have classes scattered all over the day and you could go back to the apartment conveniently, like if you have a girlfriend and you want to.....

I understand that a car is needed in Los Angeles, but what type of public transportation is available in Los Angeles area?

This question is probably targeted at people who live in Los angeles area.
What is that big area on Rodeo Road and South Sycamore Avenue. It looks like a LARGE apartment complex. Anyone know what is the name of that complex?
