Who walks? I walk around my neighborhood for the exercise, then I get in my car when I want to go somewhere.
What are you talking about, I see plenty of people walking that strip. Just because the area is undesirable and you're not interested in it, doesn't mean there's not amenities there for the residents to experience. You do not equal the people that have to shop/eat/depend/work/do legal stuff on that strip.

I walk or bike to work and to local stores and restaurants--it just happens I live in the most walkable part of town.

I drive when I have to or feel like it. I have two cars in my garage.

It's good to have choices and not corner myself with one or the other.

Walkability is desirable when it's an option, IMO.

The term "walkability" is too often ill-defined, overly broad, and/or a euphemism.

Several good examples of this have been posted here.

Just make sure you wear your body armor when you go " walking" around those areas.

What about all the homeless people living under the 405 or 10 overpasses on the west side? Or the barefoot homeless people in front of the Target in Westwood or the homeless with all of their belongings at the library on Santa Monica Blvd or even worse, the big library in Santa Monica? It sure doesn't stop the hipsters and yuppies from living in these areas.

What's wrong with those yuppies/hipsters?

Yeah, I saw a homeless emcampment underneath the 405 on Venice Blvd. the other day. I thought to myself, "This would be a terrifying sight in South Central." lol.

Hopefully I'll see the day when the walkable corridors of South LA are filled with amenities that are not churches and tire shops (though when I got a nail in my tire the other day, it was nice to go around the corner and get it patched quick and cheap. lol.)
