Actually the job is in Baldwin Park, I made a mistake with other office we have; but ok, I guess it is the same in terms of recommendations.

Thank you very much!!
Baldwin Park, I would still opt for Pasadena, depending on what you are thinking of commuter time wise.

This is what I think about Pasadena vs Downtown LA to El Monte / Baldwin Park.

DTLA:
  • You have public transit options: Metro Silver Line, Foothill Silver Streak, or even Metrolink Rail if you choose, and then finish the last couple miles on Metro or Foothill local buses.
  • Even if you choose or have to drive, you have a reverse commute on the 10 freeway since the rush hour traffic pattern is east to west in the morning and west to east in the afternoon.
  • You can even use the Fasttrak pass on the 10 freeway to get on the carpool lane solo from DTLA all the way to El Monte.
  • DTLA has more to offer for single people (restaurants, bars, clubs, condos, apts, etc.), and it's closer to the beach than Pasadena.

Pasadena:
  • No public transit option to El Monte / Baldwin Park: You have to drive for sure.
  • No direct freeway route from Pasadena to El Monte / Baldwin Park. For example, you need to get on the 210 and then down Santa Anita Ave... or down Del Mar Ave to the 10 Freeway. You can't do both N-S and E-W on the freeways without doing some kind of big loop (210 to 605, for example).
  • Pasadena feels more relaxing and laid back than DTLA. Lots of trees and nature as well.
  • Housing in Pasadena could be cheaper than in DTLA.
