Like I said before, for a taste of a DD donut, just head to 7-11. I'm sure AM/PM would do the trick too.

I do think back in the day they were decent and made in-store, but now they are gawd-awful and shipped in from a factory.

I think the only decent donuts are the original ones when they are hot .

Besides that their other donuts are nothing special.

I don't know why people keep talking about the donuts since the #1 reason people go to DD is for the coffee. The food is somewhat an afterthought.

I grew up in Boston and settled in LA for many years and always missed my DD coffee. Let's be clear, it is NOT gourmet coffee. If anything, it's the anti-coffee and I personally like mine watered down with extra cream and sugar. That's the whole point of DD, you get a consistent experience and most people who order the coffee have it tailored to their liking which they can replicate across all the DD's back East no different than Starbucks.

All us east coasters who did those crappy commutes in freezing weather could always count on a cup of DD since there was one on every block and train station along the way.

I've heard a lot of people saying that people only go for the coffee ... But people must be buying the donuts and other items if they keep selling them right?

I think it's kind of like that saying
"nobody goes there anymore , it's too crowded "

DD was more of a novelty in the early 1990s growing up in NJ. The donuts and bagels were of higher quality and the prices were cheaper than they are now.

Complete over expansion of the brand in the late 1990s/early 2000s let to a decline in food quality. The breakfast sandwiches can border on unedible.

Out here in LA, I really don't miss them other than the occasional craving of an iced coffee or a muffin. You want a donut? Go to yum-yum. They are better anyway (although I'm sure many will disagree with me there.)

PS: I also find the coffee to be not nearly as good as Starbucks.

Dunkin' Donuts when I lived back east was the shizz. I mean you seriously could not beat their coffee.

Not to be confused with the "Dunkin' Donuts" in a sack you'll see on the store shelf, which is pure drek. Eeeew. I don't know how the two can possibly be related. Ptui ptui ptui. (spitting)

Yeah I remember getting the kind "in a sack"...it tasted very sour..not sure what was wrong with that coffee...

Does anyone think the coffee has a chance or cutting into starbucks business at all?

Of course they are different types of establishments...but still..

I think Starbucks should worry more about independent coffee shops than Dunkin Donuts in Los Angeles. People in this city are looking for better and more unique coffee, not "it's the same every pot and doesn't offend anyone" sort of coffee. People in LA seem to drink coffee because they like coffee, not because they need it to get going every day. In this sense LA reminds me of Portland.
