False. First of all, 100/10 is a Maxx speed (he was upgraded from 25/5). Second, I have the speeds and I don't live between your made up area. Third, all of LA is being upgraded, they aren't gonna leave out a portion of one zip code. Fourth, stop it.

I did forget 90069 extends south to Melrose , so it's sunset to melrose. the hills don't have it though.

Show proof "all of LA" is being upgraded. Stop what?

I have a router that can handle 1000/1000(Google Fiber speed, basically). It's not one of the officially authorized modems but it works very well.

I asked TWC customer service about it this morning and they're telling me my very specific area should be upgraded to 300/30 speeds by the end of the month. They're upgrading me to 300/30 for no additional charge for a year, even though I didn't threaten to switch providers or anything. Apparently the hills are trickier to upgrade. Some other areas will have to wait until much later in the year before getting the full speed upgrade according to customer service.

That makes sense. Ya a rep also told me they've been slowly rolling it out in select neighborhoods since early April, which is when West Hollywood was projected to be completed. I'm guessing they hit 90046 first. These are the cities they're completing by the end of this year.

Google Fiber would be amazing, but they have zero plans to roll out in LA in the future. TWC is actually planning for Gigabit speeds in 2016 alongside the Docsis 3.1 standard. But with how slow they've been with the Maxx upgrade, we'll see if it happens in 2 years.

Google Fiber or equivalent speed would be a godsend. A friend of mine who works for Google told me that major cities would be the last to get Fiber because of the challenges of regulations, zoning laws, etc from the city and from neighborhood to neighborhood, and also because it would be so much more difficult to install in a busy cityscape. TWC upgrading is basically our only hope of gigabit speeds. God help us if their merger with Comcast happens...

Just wanted to add to this thread.
I just received my new modem from TWC for upgraded internet service (Maxxx I presume). I seriously haven't noticed any huge upgrade to my existing service other than a new, bulky modem with built in wifi router. Speeds seem to be about the same. Then again, I haven't yet tried downloading any large files or videos on Netflix.

It sounds pretty good ..I have the plan above the very basic internet with time warner and mine is a lot slower than that.

It depends a lot too on the server you are connecting too.

Even if you have the worlds fastest internet if the server you are connecting to is slow or caps the speeds then it doesnt help.

I would think at the speed you have though you shouldn't have many issues with streaming videos,etc.

I think to a certain degree the speed doesn't matter much for most people if you can do things like stream video.

The reason people need a lot of speed usually is if they have a bunch of people connecting to their connection , in a residential setting if you lived with a bunch of people all streaming video at the same time I could see it being an issue.

That's higher than the highest speed they were previously offering in most of LA.
