Are there places to stay in LA that are within walking distance to some interesting things to see--touristy or otherwise? Also, is there easily accessible transportation if needed? I use a wheelchair and we don't want to rent a car during our stay.
We had originally thought about staying in Burbank because we wanted to see The Ellen Degeneres Show, but since we requested tickets several weeks ago for a show at the end of the month and have heard no response, we assume we're not going to get tickets. Has anyone had an experience with getting tickets?

define "interesting things to see." what kinds of things would you like to do? all the main tourist areas have a choice of accomodation, but you can't walk to hollywood from the beach or vice versa. you'll have to pick the area to which you would like to be close, and that will depend upon what you want to spend the bulk of your time doing. i guess the easier question to ask is "where can i stay near X?" as opposed to "what interesting things can i walk to from [unspecified location]?" the latter is pretty hard for others to answer. tell us what you'd like to do, and we'll go from there.
