Well I was born in L.A but from the seperation of my mom and dad and me going with my mom I live in Michigan...Michigan is not what I like it's to snowy(We got like a foot of snow today), The city that I live in is to small and has nothing really to do..and Detroit is currently the most dangerous city in the United States so I do not want to move their..I'm a African American 18 year old college student and I'm doing 2 years at Michigan state..Now since my dad still resides in L.A I know he would be more then happy to see me down their..I go to L.A like almost every year.. but what are some good areas to reside in..BUT AWAY FROM ALL THE GANGS AND CRIME..

Well, there's West LA, the communities in the Valley like Sherman Oaks and Studio City. Stay out of South Central and East LA. A black guy's got no place in those areas, full of gang violence and racial tension.

West LA and the hills in the Valley will most likely be your safe haven.

I lived in LA area for several years and loved it. My husband and I lived in the South Bay area...We went to a great church called Hope Chapel. Our "family" there was diverse...and everyboday loved eachother! If you end up in that area...maybe you could check it out and meet some wonderful people...wishing you the best!

Well the best way to figure out where to live is to figure what school you will be going to.Please make sure your new college will accept all of your units ,you don't want to waste time or money on classes that are non transferable What area does your dad live ? Would you want to live with him rent in L.A is exspensive and it would save you a bundle if you could live with your dad.
