I'm getting a little tired of these calls -- the "Do not call registry" doesn't seem to matter much anymore. I was considering shining on one of these guys, then sending them to a non-existent address, but I'm not certain how much of my personal info they have.

Right down to your shoe size and your bikini-line coverage.

If they know your name when they call, they probably know your address as well. Once you are on a list, those home improvement clowns will never stop calling. If you've ever responded to an advertisement in a newspaper or whatever, your only hope is to change your phone number.

What's amazing is they are identifying themselves and in some cases not even masking their phone number (I've had local numbers show up). En flagrante. I'd say report them at the FTC site. I know the FTC is swamped, but they are prosecuting cases. Maybe if some local yahoo gets cleaned out for everything he is worth, word on the street will shut the rest of them up.

I watched a documentary not long ago about telemarketers and at one point it was stated that the fines they receive are just chocked up to another cost of doing business.

You're right; this service seems to be of little help now.
