130 dumb XXXXX were arrested last night in downtown. Now they get to spend not only Thanksgiving in jail but the weekend too unless they can come up with the $500 bail.

It's a Thanksgiving and weekend to remember, for these folks. If convicted, they will have a record also.
It will likely be hard to obtain any gainful employment, then.

Look at the signs they hold and listen to what they chant. They don't care about actual issues in Los Angeles or America, they're just jumping on the bandwagon over Mike Brown's death with fake outrage and total disregard to the facts of the case. People latched onto the Mike Brown story and from day 1 made up their minds that the cop was a racist murderer and that Mike Brown was an innocent angel. Reality came crashing down on them but they all just decided that reality wasn't good enough so now they can't lament lest they admit they were wrong the whole time.

Regardless. The reason people come unhinged over these things isn't limited to - often hardly even connected to - a specific event. This is "frustration at everything" boil over. And yeah, of course it isn't rationally rooted.

But find me a small isolated culture with village protests against the witch doctor or chieftain or chieftain's henchmen. Doesn't happen in small homogenous cultures. This happens because the total machine is oppressive by nature of impersonality, regardless of intent. Big civilization. Big frustrations. Big anger. Big protests. Over anything will do.

Apparently the arrested protesters will be released in time for dinner tonight, simply because it's Thanksgiving. I disagree with that; if those people are willing to break the law and be arrested, then they should suck it up and spend Thanksgiving in jail. Why should they get special favors just because this is a holiday?

A few things:

-Great post, OP!

-I have to hand it to the LAPD and CHP for handling this so superbly. They were MORE THAN FAIR and reasonable. Good job, boys!

-These protesters are 90% teenagers, early 20s (from what I've seen), and are doing nothing but making their generation look bad. No offense to anyone. It's like they just want to be stupid and be seen; who cares what for.

-The best part was watching a lot of them cry on the news when they found out they were gonna be arrested last night. That just shows how a big part of all of them are fake, poser martyrs. Enjoy Thankgiving in jail and maybe, just MAYBE use your heads next time.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Probably not that much. It looks like it was Metro handling the protesters and they wouldn't be handling normal 911 calls

Where is the protest against corrupt politicians in LA?

Where is the protest against overspending of our tax money which threatens the city?

Where is the protest about the delay of the freeway construction?
What are "phantom" LAPD cars? I've never heard of them....

Why would college-age kids protest a failing LAUSD school system? Shouldn't parents and teachers be the ones protesting?

Which corrupt politicians? Names please.

Overspending tax dollars? Got some examples?

Protesting the delay in freeway construction by getting out on the streets and blocking them. Great idea! Freeway construction is going to happen when it happens. Protesting will not speed it up.

its not a system failure---- that is the argument---- the first step is riot, next step say --the system failed-- next step demand massive capital infusion from DC to "fix" the "failed system"
please stop chanting "somebody please stop me".
the governor of MO did not burn down ferguson, the chief of police did not burn it down
these men burnt it down

Looking at the crowd in L.A at least it feels like it's a bunch of the same people that might have been involved in Occupy Wall Street.

I feel like with Occupy Wall Street though , I could see that there were valid arguments especially against the big banks and their crooked activity . Pretty much all the big banks paid huge fines of billions because of their greedy actions, etc.

In this case though, I wonder if these protesters even did a little research.

The problem is they just don't seem to care.

They needed SOMETHING to use to, to jump on and the major media on BOTH sides gave them something to get pissed about ..media on both sides did this..

People need a scapegoat , because actually fixing things is so much work.

A famous peaceful protester and amazing Leader named Gandhi once said

"'Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

That takes work. It means showing up every day. Being a parent that teaches your child respect, values and hard work. Being a student that doesn't just get good grades, but actually has an INTEREST in learning inside and outside of the classroom.
Having some intellectual curiosity.

So many people are their own worst enemy and they don't even realize it. It's tragic.

People have more power to change themselves than anything else. Why not start there?

It's so much easier to point the finger and yell "YOU/THEY NEED TO FIX THIS!" instead of yelling to yourself "I NEED TO FIX ME"

We can't wait on politicians to change ourselves. We can't wait on Preachers to change ourselves. We can't wait on the schools to fix us or our children.

I wish people like Rev . Al Sharpton , if he wants to be a leader would encourage people , to just fix one thing about themselves. None of us are perfect. Maybe it means to fix not having a degree. Or fix not having a good relationship with our kids. Or fix our income.

Sadly this is not a popular thing to say.

I think he could channel his powerful voice for good. He's got a loud voice, but for him to truely speak to all Americans no matter their background.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone , let's all try and be that change we want to see.
I think Wilson's story was a trumped up, lawyered up version of the events, and I do believe it is an outrage he was excused from even facing charges. Was he guilty? I don't know, but there is a serious flaw in our system when cops can act with such impunity. I think a trial in front of his peers was the necessary thing to do.

The fact that he killed someone and says he "has no regrets" casts some serious doubts on his character, at least for me. I don't care if it was necessary, only a sociopath has a clear conscious after killing another human. He doesn't wish it went differently and that a kid didn't end up dead?

Either way I am fairly confident that like OJ Simpson and George Zimmerman before him, if Wilson is who I think he is, he will do a great job of indicting himself as the terrible person many perceive him to be by continuing to behave in a sociopathic nature. What happens when he kills another civilian?

I can tell you this - I am thankful that I was lucky enough to be born a race that does not make me an automatic target for suspicion. I also worry about my brother, who happens to be black, is a bit peculiar, and takes long nighttime walks in a city which people don't usually walk much and are almost never black. I worry he might be the next victim making headlines.
