I agree that generally L.A. drivers are very competent and probably among the best in the country, large immigrant population notwithstanding. It seems there is a inherent professionalism to the way that they drive, in that their survival depends on it. Few other places seem to have such congested freeways that often still are moving along at a good clip, lots of signal usage and mostly good lane behavior. And major artery streets like Wishire, when lightly traveled may as well just be a highway, accepted speeds in the middle of the city there seem to be that fast.

The lack of left turn traffic lights throughout much of the city always gets me though- I'll just say I'm glad I have a wicked quick turbo lol.

For the last 30 years, I've been saying what you all are saying. People from outside of LA look at me with bewilderment shock and disbelief when I say LA has the best drivers!

You must mean Louisiana, cause I don't think I ever saw *anyone* drive 50 on an LA freeway.

idiots who are getting ready to turn left but don't get INTO their lanes 100%. So they have their a$$es sticking out which is dangerous and causes problems for the rest of the traffic.

idiots.
To go along with this, people who don't stay in their lines and cross the lane divider into yours while driving. Happens to me almost every day going south on Crescent at the turn in the road right before you hit Sunset. Some ******* always takes the turn too sharp and comes over into my lane. I want a special horn to honk just to say STAY IN YOUR LANE.

Then you aren't driving on the freeway or at all. The amount of times I've been stuck behind a slow driver on the 101 in the fast lane is astounding. They merge all the way over to the left, just to drive slow and create drivers who dart into the right lane to pass them. It's like they have nowhere to be, just cruising along at a measly pace.

I can only compare Los Angeles to Manila when it comes to large urban areas. And we win. People are polite, they let each other comb into lanes, for the most part people don't drive on medians or decide to make their own counter-flow lanes. Perhaps because of continuing immigration or a more of a me first ethic among younger generations people such rude driver behavior has been increasing lately though.

Thank you! Yes, the amount of slow poke drivers on a major freeway is astounding! Was ticks me off is when they have the nerve to drive 50 in the slow lane. The people who don't get that here in CD must be the slow drivers or something because they act as though everyone drives fast or something.

You can't compare Manila to LA. The drivers are going to be better in LAS because we have more standards and regulations. LA will look good all the time next to a poorer country.

In the US though LA is known for having some of the worst drivers.
