People finding their 'waze' to once-hidden streets - CBS News

Maybe I'm weird but I've always thought public streets belong to everyone and nobody has the right to to restrict others' access to them even if they're causing your quality of life to go down due to traffic being routed in front of your house.

Restricting the side streets won't solve the root problem: too much traffic in the first place. At least now that angry residents are feeling the brunt of the traffic due to navigation apps finding shortcuts, they have more incentive to lobby for better solutions for reducing the traffic.

I take a commute route through a Studio City neighborhood paralleling Laurel Canyon that has a lot of traffic on it for how secluded and hilly the area is. I always wondered how much traffic Waze adds to quiet neighborhoods. Give me more than one bus option or a train option for my neighborhood and I would totally stop driving and commute by public transportation.
