East Hollywood begins a good deal east of La Brea. You wouldn't happen to be one of those hipster transplants?

Exactly. Does he think Hollywood and Highland is "East Hollywood"?

Actually, from Fountain to south of Santa Monica Blvd, west of La Brea isn't Hollywood- It's WEST Hollywood.

Even so, East Hollywood, which starts around Western and or the 101, is quite safe these days.

To be fair, the Hollywood/Highland tourist strip does have an extreme amount of street hustlers, panhandlers, druggies, and hookers which that commenter mentioned specifically. So it can be seen as a craphole in those regards. Otherwise, yeah they're wrong.
