If you're talking the California/Washington border, then maybe. But Northern California does not compare to Michigan. Especially when you consider the 2013 winter, NorCal was a tropical paradise in comparison.

The California / Washington border? What roads do I take to get there? Here I've been driving thru Oregon all these years to transit from one to the other!

BTW, Mt. St. Helens is in Oregon too.

But how come they won't let me pump my own gas in "southern" Washington then - but I can in "northern" Washington? County thing huh.

I know you mean California- Oregon border. Yes I think the gas thing has to do with labor laws.
