i just think mid city is bound to be gentrified at least in the upcoming 10 years.....

i see what you are saying though about going north and south, but areas above the 10 will see a change, maybe not "today" but "tomorrow"

and may i ask what is "DT El A"?

The only way would be if Donald Sterling or the Koreans decided to plant a flag there and do an economic takeover. The suits building up along Fig and in some cases Grand would rather take it down to USC or up to Chinatown rather than venture west.
Your post indicates you have not been to downtown LA in a long time. Not surprising since you apparently can't even spell Downtown Los Angeles....correctly.

The historic core where Broadway is located has the most "new" housing in all of downtown LA. By "new" I mean renovated (formerly vacant) buildings that have been converted to lofts over the past 10 or so years. Also, Broadway itself has the new upscale Ace Hotel, the upscale Eastern Colombia condos and several mid-tier to upscale retailers which have opened (Urban Outfitters, Tanner Goods, Acne, etc.) in the last year or so. Development and re-development is happening in all parts of DTLA with the historic core having as much or more than any other district.

Wrong again. Central City West is seeing major redevelopment and new construction. The Holland Group is a major player on the west side of the 110 freeway. They have built several new apartment complexes in the area and have another massive one under construction in Central City west that is pushing development further west. The path of development toward MacArthur Park is happening now (as another poster noted up thread). Still has a ways to go before it fully impacts the park but it is happening. Finally, see this link to a recent story in Curbed LA which reported that the owner of the Roosevelt Hotel has purchased a stake in the neglected Park Plaza hotel which is directly across the street from MacArthur Park.

IDK why, I kind of like it. Make it sterile and it gets boring. Atleast imo. Gives it vibrance, even if it's dirty, it's bustling.

FWIW, its where you find the best pastrami sandwich in Los Angeles, possible the country. Katz's in New York has better pastrami(though not by much) but Langers overall sandwich is fantastic. Its at 8th/Alvarado, across the street from McArthur Park.

Keep in mind Langers is a jewish deli(not kosher though AFAIK) and so that means yourre getting your sandwich on rye and with russian dressing, not johnny pastramis style. I found that disclosure is necessary for people that grew up in the hood.
