I'll be in LA for about 8 days in May. So looking into possibly spending a day there. Looks like tickets are $92 per day.

Is this something that two adult males could enjoy (in our 30's)? Or is it mostly for kids? Trying to fill in some gaps on what to do since we'll be there for over a week.

I'm guessing food and drinks is probably pricey and parking too. Ordinarily I wouldn't do something like this because it consumes your whole day but being there 8 days it might be a good filler to keep us busy.

Thanks

Go on all the rides first (Transformers, Indiana Jones, Simpsons, etc), then the the shows and studio tour after.

If you like thrill rides and roller coasters, Six Flags Magic Mountain is a good alternative. I think it is cheaper if you buy tickets online.

Universal almost always has discounts. You can take the subway and save on parking as well if your hotel is near a stop.

I only came here to suggest this. Six Flags > Universal.

If you're looking for adult things, I'd suggest Magic Mountain before Universal.

I agree, Magic Mountain is best for adults. The thrill rides collection in the park is second to none in the world.

I've heard a lot of people suggest Magic Mountain. How long would it take to get from Silver Lake area of LA to Magic Mountain. Looks like you take I5? Google directions says about 42 minutes but not sure how accurate that would be.

You could take the 5 directly or the 101 to the 170 to the 5.
42 mins sounds correct. It takes me about 35 min from Weho.
Once you're there it can take a while to park and walk to the entrance so you might want to factor than in.
Also idk how the other amusement parks compare but the parking at Six Flags is criminal. $20 F-ing dollars.

Wait a second there. A lot of people suggesting Magic Mountain over Universal, for adults. But that's not always necessarily the case. It depends on what you are into.

If you are looking for roller coasters galore, MM is your place no doubt. Universal has a few but nowhere as near as MM. Universals attractions are centered more around the Hollywood experience, special effects etc.

One thing Universal does have over MM is City Walk where you have a variety of restaurants and places to get a drink. Last time I was at MM there were really no good restaurants to hang at and grab a drink. It is pretty much limited to small eat and go spots where you can expect the main meals to be centered around hamburgers etc.

So if you're looking for a place where your day solely revolves around walking and walking from one roller coaster to another all day, MM is your place. If you are looking for a place to maybe mix in some hanging out time, grab a couple of drinks, etc, Universal is your spot.
