I'm not a fan of Carl's Jr. but I DO like the Six Dollar Burger. (dumb name though)

Double Double with grilled onions has to be #1.

Tommys chili cheeseburgers feel are delicious, but talk about gut bombs!

All the above are great--especially In-N-Out. Also, Woody's Smorgasburger, Culver City. Woody's charburgers are pretty taste!

I lived in L.A. in 06 and I used to eat at Tommy's MAN what a Burger! Plus the chili fries. I don't know if it is the best in Los Angeles but I was happy!

I would add Island's to the list for best burgers. And their fries are to die for, especially the cheese fries with ranch dressing and bacon bits on the side. YUM!

I never order anything except the $0.99 burgers at the chains, almost always Carls Jr. Extra Extra Extra Extra onions so it has to be special made so it is fresh. You get the most food per dollar. Burger joints don't make any money on my order. Too much touch time for my special order. Also order water only.

Mr. Cheap

My wife is the same way

I love the original cheeseburger from Mel's Diner and, of course, In and Out's.

As having fairly recently left L.A. for Portland I can honestly say not having the wide variety of great burgers available has been tough. While all of the places mentioned above are great, the best burgers in L.A. can actually be found in Pasadena.

1. Check out Lucky Boy. It's on Arroyo Parkway just after the 110 ends. The burgers are generous in size, not drenched in some sauce, and char-broiled. Overall, a top notch burger. Oh, and Pastrami and Grilled Chicken Sandwich are great too. Also, great chili cheese fries.

2. Tops on Walnut. While the burger here is great too...it's the fries that really set this place apart. A small is big enough to feed a family of four.

3. The Hat. There are a number of these around the San Gabriel Valley. The burgers are huge, tasty, and fresh. Also, check out the Wet Fries, thick steak fries covered in gravy....

So there you have it...the best three burger places in greater L.A.

Honorable mention goes to Highlife Burgers on South Pasadena, and of course all of the usual suspects (In 'n out, Tommy's, etc...)

Again, I hope all of you current Los Angelenos appreciate the great variety of top quality food available in your (my-ex) city.
