Claremont--right next door to Pomona. Beautiful, affluent city with a large liberal college population.

I would guess Pomona being decently LGBT friendly as well, but it's not really that safe nor family friendly.

I second this.
One of the overall best cities in LA County.

Best is extremely subjective ("overall" or not).

Family friendly areas close to Pomona (but not in Pomona): Glendora, San Dimas, Claremont, Chino Hills.

I can't vouch for whether they are LGBT friendly - I don't imagine it being a problem in any of those places though (but I really have no first hand knowledge).

Glendora, San Dimas, and Chino Hills are all conservative, family-oriented communities. Family-friendly, but there are plenty of people living there (I vouch for the first two) with conservative mindsets who may not be LGBT-friendly.

Claremont is more your place. Liberal college-town that will be more accepting, and the Claremont Village brings a vibrancy and uniqueness to the city that is unmatched in the area.

Those are very conservative areas, except for Claremont, which I'd vote for.
