I've been researching neighborhoods in LA, but with so many choices, I'm having a hard time narrowing it down and getting a grip on what the various neighborhoods offer.

My husband and I are in our '40's, no kids. We like to eat out regularly and like to have a lot of options within 20 minute drive. We'll be renting (with a budget of ~ $3,000/month) and need some kind of yard for our two large dogs. My husband will be going into the office in Glendale a couple of times a week. I'm a beach girl, but I realize for that price we won't get anywhere near a beach. A walkable community would be nice, we love to take our dogs for a walk and a coffee.

If you were us, where would you look? Why?

Thanks!

You might find a place near a beach for $3000, but your husband would have a brutal commute.

Why not look in Glendale? Or other NELA communities- Atwater Village, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, South Pasadena, etc. plenty of neighborhoods like you describe, and close to your husband's work.

I agree with nightlysparrow and Gurbie's recs. I would like to add Montrose as a community worth looking into. Near Glendale, with a very walkable downtown.

Shop Montrose - Montrose Shopping Park Association | Glendale's Historic Old Town
