Aren't they? Their eyes are so blue! (I certainly wouldn't want to stumble into their den without protection, though...)

60 Minutes did a segment about that last night. I think its most important point was the talk of building a land bridge across, I think, the 10 so that LA mountain lions could mix with less inbred populations.

Culverts, levees, RR rights of way and while we're at it, pedestrian overcrossings and sidewalks on overpasses.

There are thousands of ways big cats can cross freeways. No additional investment needed.

I don't know that there are "thousands of ways." I underestimated the number of ways, but other than sidewalks on overpasses, how many of them are found every few miles? Furthermore, big cats usually are scared of humans and cars and they are not going to use regular overpasses unless people and cars almost never use them. Even after midnight, very few probably meet that criteria. Also, mountain lions avoid places with bright lighting, such as those. Anyway, the big cats almost never cross freeways, so the current options aren't working. Short answer: experts didn't think up land bridges just for fun.

Mountain lions living in Greater Los Angeles could be at risk of extinction within the next 50 years if the population remains isolated by freeways and other forms of human development:

Good people and mountain lions can not live together with out there being human deaths from attacks from these big cats mostly on children. If there is a zero population in all California Metro Area's that's means that my Grandkids and Great Grandkids are safe from these large cats.

the concept seems great, protect LA's wildlife, unless it's your sister in law whose head is in its vice grip as they drag you away to be eaten alive.
Being in the mountains comes with mountain-type risks. If that's not acceptable, stay away. Sorta like the ocean, actually.
