I haven't been into the stores before but I should. I like checking out different types of markets to see what they have.
Something I've noticed in 99 Ranch and other "Asian" markets ... quite a few Latino folks and even a few Ruskis as well (hmmm ... they could actually be "Asian" depending on where from ... ).

Wishful thinking. Right up there with ever seeing an Aldi in the 805.
Latinos would also go there. 99 Ranch would do well if they opened in Oxnard.

Depending on your neighborhood, there are also blacks and Armenians too. Quite a mix in LA.

In my personal experience, produce and meat prices at ethnic markets are much cheaper than Ralphs/Vons/etc. 9 out of 10 times. Sometimes the veg quality isn't as nice, but if you pick through the bad ones you'll be fine.

It's only expensive if you're buying things way outside of their realm of specialty...ie don't be an idiot like me, and buy mac and cheese at the Korean market XD When in Rome~

What was Korean mac and cheese like? Years ago, I worked near an Italian restaurant that was run by an Indian man. That was the weirdest Italian food I ever tasted. According to a coworker, the man wanted to open an Indian restaurant but there were already a few in the neighborhood so he decided to do Italian instead. So, it was Italian with Indian spices.
