I currently live in Beverly Hills and though my commute is short distance wise, it's a nightmare in reality.

As someone who prefers living 3 miles or less from work, this new job is going to make me want to move.

I'm not doing this "just because" ... I noticed that if my commute is longer than 20 minutes, it takes a tow on me. I get pissed off more easily, I get more road rages, it stresses me out, etc etc.

My lease will be up in a few months and I was wondering where to move to.

Priorities (in order):

1. Proximity to work (less than 3 miles)
2. Safety

Don't need anything else because during the week I don't really go out. Only weekends.

Where do you guys think I should look for a place?

Budget: $2,000/mo.

Btw, I'm 28, straight male, single.

Why not just live right next to work so you have no commute?

Hollywood or West Hollywood I think would be the only choices

Isn't Hollywood too shady/dangerous at night?

I don't really think so, I lived in Hollywood for a year and survived , theres also usually a lot of people around and a pretty strong police presence , . but your options will be limited if you want to stay within 3 miles of Sunset+Vine

Maybe Los Feliz , Los Feliz Village area is pretty nice and feels safe at least...would only be like 2.5 miles away.

Otherwise I'd say Burbank or Studio City if you want safe...but then it's a lot further than 3 miles.

I wouldn't say any part of Hollywood is very safe.

I would say Hollywood, west of La Brea, (considered "West Hollywood" by some) is very safe, but safe is subjective ya know.

Pinks is on LaBrea. Plenty of people there 24/7 grubbing so it ain't that rowdy.

One can get sexually assaulted in WEHO just as they can in South Central. Just a different type of criminal.
