Hello,
We live in State College, PA (which is a pretty small town compared to LA). Our son has just accepted a summer internship in Glendale, CA (Dreamworks). We are very excited for him, but are not familiar with the area. I've been using Google maps to try to find places he could rent for the summer. Does anyone have recommendations? He has a car so could drive it cross country if he had to. We will also be taking student loans to pay for his housing. Glendale is much more pricey than PA! I've found studio apts for as low as @$790/month on Elk Ave but then realized this area was near the galleria mall which was said to be unsafe in an earlier post. Airbnb lists rooms for rent but they are 7+ miles away from where he will be working and in Hollywood (which I heard was unsafe). If anyone could offer us advice, we'd greatly appreciate it!!

I live in Glendale and work down the street form Dreamworks. I would look anywhere north of Colorado St in Glendale or anywhere in Burbank. But even the worst parts of Glendale are better than most of LA. Glendale was the #9 safest city in the U.S. in 2014
