Hello -- relocating to Torrance, CA in the next few WEEKS and have was wondering your opinions on what is commutable, safe, etc. I also need something pet friendly since my husband and the dog would be joining me in a few months which also seems to be limiting my options significantly. I'm looking to rent a 1 br and would ideally like to stay under $2k.

I've gathered from other threads that I want to stay in the south and western parts of Torrance, but even then I'm finding limited options under 2k with decent reviews. What other neighboring areas are safe (apartment reviews here would also be greatly appreciated) that would be a decent commute to Torrance? (an hour or less).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The neighboring cities to the south(Palos Verdes) and west(Redondo Beach) are likely to be more expensive. Cities the other way (Gardena, Lomita, Carson) aren't very desirable IMO. If I were you, I would look in the other parts of Torrance you haven't been looking in like North Torrance and Old Torrance. Might also want to check North Redondo, and West Hawthorne there seems to be quite a few apartments in those places.

Hi op, unfortunately your options with a pet in that area will be limited. No getting around it, pets are not welcome at a LOT of properties in Torrance.

Your price point is not an issue whatsoever. I can't imagine a one bedroom in Torrance going for $1700/mo let alone $2k. If someone is asking that much, it's a ripoff.

You can try looking in Redondo Beach and parts of Gardena around Artesia Bl, but it really should not be necessary. Btw, I would not put much stock in online apartment reviews. A ton of reviews focus on bldg management and I can say that I'm completely confused by that since other than leasing and moving out ive rarely ha to deal with management of any building I've lived in.

I'm also relocating to the area from NY and I reluctantly found a place in Long Beach. I really wasn't impressed with the apartments I saw in Torrance and the immediate neighboring areas.

If you are looking for modern stainless mcgranite places in Torrance, there's only a few. Most of the apartment stock was built from the 60's to about 1985.
