I'm generally off on Thursday... without fail... the garbage truck is on my street 6 am every Thursday and wakes everybody up... they also have to back up to negotiate a turn so there is the added alarm for that.

Just part of urban life...

The only restrictions I know are for Sunday and construction activities that require a permit...

Good Luck... it does make a difference with my windows closed.

Get a white noise generator, or dl soothing tunes on YT.

It sucks part of the reason I can't find a place to live right now, severe insomnia doesn't allow me to live in any place.

At Least it's not the street sweeper coming by at 3AM like some cities.

I stay up late as hell and 7:30 and 8:30 aren't even that early to me. I thought the OP had garbage trucks waking him up at 5 AM or something.
OP, you need to get some perspective.

I feel your pain. I'm a light sleeper and that would make me miserable too. Try living in NYC where they come in the middle of the night. It's horrible.

Why can't someone make a garbage truck that is quiet? Same goes for leaf blowers and lawn equipment. Is it not possible to make one that does not make noise?

I wear earplugs every night and still hear everything on my street. Good hearing. It's a blessing and a curse.

There are 8 million stories in the naked city, some ice cold and without pity, about the mean streets and the ghetto culture, the pimps, the pushers, the sharks and garbage trucks WHAT?

All from memory too I might add.

In theory gas leaf blowers are illegal in Los Angeles and people should be using quiter electric ones., But the LAPD does not enforce gas leaf blower laws. Because you know which politically protected class of people are often the workers manning them. It is left to the Department Public Works to issue tickets for their use.
