what the heck are you talking about? State law dictates who can be involuntarily committed re 5150 W&I
CA Codes (wic:5150-5155)

And even if it were legal to confine someone to a mental hospital when they aren't in immediate danger of harming themselves or others, WHERE are you going to put them? Ronnie Raygun got rid of all the mental hospitals

The reason Utahans voted to house them and the reason the program has been somewhat successful IS because these "homeless" are Utah's native sons, who are homeless for reasons much different than your typical homeless.

Try comprehending that before you cast stones at people.

To compare Utahans providing a little housing for their outcast native sons to Californians burning money from an already decimated budget to house the druggie riff-raff overflowing our borders from all over the country is pure ignorance. Look up "context" and figure out what it means. It'll help you not look so foolish.
nonsense do some research, the percentage of homeless who are mentally ill and/or substance abusers in SLC is very close to what it is in every City that has a homeless problem. They aren't outcast native sons

Homeless druggies do not.
It costs twice as much to leave them on the street as it does to house them, once again- do some research, google "Salt Lake City Housing First" the internet is your friend
