I must say(-: the vibrancy of Downtown has really improved since 2013. it actually is starting to grow a "Rat Race" environment. Anybody else nodicing the increase in street pedestrian activitity? Other things i'v nodiced is more tourist wandering into Downtown. And of course lastly, Metro rail transportation is growing in usage. We're not manhattanizing people, were going through Tokyo-ination

57,000 residents as of Jan. 2015. With several thousand more units coming online in the next 24 months.

There was always a weekday DAYTIME bustle to downtown (400,000 or so daytime employees). The difference now is the evenings are more lively with more people living there and more people staying after work since there is a lot more to do (bars, restaurants, more hotels, concerts, shows, etc.).

I definitely noticed the double decker tour buses. When I moved here in 2010 I never saw tour buses at all. It's just been the past year that I started seeing them.

I'm an Angeleno who was born and grew up in the 90's. There were times we'd have to go through Downtown for certain things, and not only did I dread those trips, but I was scared of them. Downtown scared the living daylights out of me as a kid and I hated going there. Fast forward years and years and now I can't get enough of Downtown. My mom and I always talk about how unrecognizable Downtown Los Angeles is. We love it.

We have huge growth on the west side of DTLA and the Arts District. What we really need is some massive redevelopment projects between these two ends to really change the entire city core. In my pipe dream future, the entire freeway loop of DTLA would be ultra-dense, with Skid Row's physical appearance being a thing of the past.
