I have not read every post here, but you are forgetting one very important thing. Minimum wage jobs have NO security. You can be fired on a whim, or if sales are down.

Umm.. nooo. I used to make over six figures and I spent less than $200 a MONTH on food, usually it would be like $180. I'm female though and very petite but your appetite is not normal. I live like a QUEEN on less than $200 a month shopping mainly at Trader Joe's. Breakfast for me is one egg with a slice of bread (no room for fruit after that), chicken salad for lunch (3 oz of chicken with some greens), dinner some rice with veggies and a bit of meat etc. 100 a week on food is insane! Really insane. I would be a fat ass if I ate that much.
To be honest, I spent on average $150-$180 a month on food and most of it would go to waste and rot because I couldn't even finish it all.

Well if you qualify for section 8 and food stamps, that takes away a lot of your expenses.

It depends on how many roommates you have and whatnot. Minimum wage might be where you start, but it's not where you stay.

I know for a fact I spend $100 a week on food, want to see my recipt? I cant go cheap on food because no one can live if they dont eat enough! Food is a must! Even if you could survive on min wage, why would you not want a higher wage? I know high school students who get more than min wage on their first job. Even my sister got more than min wage when she had that job back when she was 17 and still in school! I think a wage of less than $10 is really bad, especially in CA! I consider an "ok" wage to be at least $20 an hour!
