Today, I was driving along the Century Freeway (The 105.) There were 2 cops, each 3 miles apart going the speed limit. Then, drivers were passing them at different speeds. I was going 80. Some cars went the speed limit of 55, another set went 65, 70, 75, and one was going triple digits. None got pulled over.

Considering LA's notorious traffic, maybe they didn't believe their eyes when they saw cars speeding.

Yes they do give them out . I know because I have gotten them before .

They are expensive too !

I could be wrong but I think they usually give tickets when they are parked with their radar gun ( aka a speed trap )

Pretty easy to pick people off like that .

LAPD is so busy generally unless the specific cops are working traffic I dont think theyll bother unless it's something egregious.

that said they have specific traffic enforcement details so yes, but by and large I think traffic is a small part of overall lapd and particularly the cops you see.

CHP however...

CHP really gets on my nerves. If they're the highway patrol, then they need to patrol the highway rather than stake out stop signs on the bottoms of hills in order to make fast money.

I've never seen anyone get a speeding ticket or even a ticket for running a red light. But you can easily get a $250 jaywalking ticket in Downtown LA. I'm not even joking. Way to prioritize, LAPD.

Yes, they give tickets. Happily so. How do you think CA balances the budget? It's legal racketeering, basically. That's not to say that all speeders should go unpunished, but going 75 with people tailgating you and getting a ticket (happened to me) is ridiculous.

Just because you got lucky doesn't mean, you always will. I know lots of people who got speeding tickets. Some even weren't that ridiculously fast.

My coworker just got a new car (bright red). She got stopped the day she got it, a cop came "out of nowhere", stopping her with the statement, she was fast. I guess the red must have stood out in the crowd. She is an elderly woman, went 10 above the speed limit in semi heavy rush hour traffic. She got away with a warning. It was on the 101

I'm not buying that one of them was going triple digits and didn't get pulled over. That's a hugely expensive ticket. I've seen cops jump on the 118 late at night to chase those people going triple digits.

Easy Money..also Jaywalking is pretty dangerous and shouldn't be encouraged. I think many of us have had situations where we almost hit some idiot jaywalking.
