I don't think it's real. Someone is moving in less than 2 months and they have no idea where they want to live, than say the can pay up to $5K a month in rent, why would you even rent if you could really afford that?

And the nonsense about never leaving their apt, than what does it matter where you live?

As was mentioned this is one of the I make $500K a year threads can I afford LA threads....LOL.

That wouldn't work, the drive from Studio City to Hollywood and back again would go over the one hour a day the OP leaves their apt.

Imagine the stress.

unless you are up high, west hollywood does not meet the criteria you listed. it's a great area to live but parts are very loud and crowded.

Thanks for the replies (the serious ones).

Of course sometimes I'll leave the apartment for the whole day. My point was that I am working a lot...and if I do go out, it is usually to go for a walk or to visit a good restaurant. Maybe from time to time I go watch some live blues or jazz, if available.

I'm not buying a house or condo because I will only be staying for 6-8 months or so.

Working from home? What is the point of moving to LA for 6 to 8 months if you work from home? And you spend the majority of time in the apt working?

Take a vacation to LA when you can.

I'd consider Pasadena or Glendale as both are pretty safe, don't have too much hustle and bustle, but are still close to shopping and restaurants. Studio City and Sherman Oaks are other options as well since there are lots of things to do on Ventura Blvd. while music venues in Hollywood are just over the hill.

Apparently the OP gave up on LA and is now asking about London. With almost twice the monthly budget for rent? //www.city-data.com/forum/londo...ve-london.html
