Dan Walters had a write up about this yesterday.

I would say, follow the money.

Only a state run and ruined by Democrats could squander the bounty of very bright students from 5 of the top 25 universities in the nation by initiating policies which have led to California having the nation's highest poverty rate.

Thank you very much folks for proposing more stupid and pointless rules like this one.

There are 26 million vehicles in CA that drive 38 million people 185 billion miles every year and 92% run on gas.
How do you take that much gas and cut it in half and with a growing population?
There are currently 120,000 electric vehicles in use in CA, 13 million would be required to reduce CA's gas consumption by 50%.
From a article by Kevin Smith in Sat. LA Daily News.

There are lots and lots of average but fairely well off people who do what they want to do. If these idiot Democrats force these people to not do what they want to do maybe the backlash will finally cause people to vote these morons out.
Look at how many cars are driving all over LA all the time all our freeways are constantly buisy, millions of people and your going to tell them they can't drive? Good luck.

Over 70% of the new cars sold in CA are imports and less than 5% are hybrids or electric cars.

For most of us they don+t make any sense whatsoever.

Another stupid proposal from the masters of stupidity.

Ever heard the phrase "As California goes, so goes the United States"? I certainly didn't make it up.

Obviously California has a lot of issues, but I can tell you I would rather live here than Texas.
Yeah. I'm also grateful the knee-jerk know-nothings that too often pollute this board can't comprise a voting majority in CA.

Will California redouble its push for clean energy? It all rides on this upcoming vote. - Vox

Well seeing as how this great piece of "legislation" comes from the same "brain trust" that spent how much money on that stupid station in Anaheim ( but did make a great scene in True Detective ) I don't know why I should be skeptical right?

Because prior attempts by the state to clear the air have failed so miserably:

- Energy efficiency measures have, enabled California households to redirect their expenditures toward other goods and services, creating about 1.5 million FTE jobs with a total payroll of $45 billion, driven by well-documented household energy savings of $56 billion from 1972-2006.

- As a result of energy efficiency, California reduced its energy import dependence and directed a greater percentage of its consumption to instate, employment-intensive goods and services, whose supply chains also largely reside within the state, creating a “multiplier” effect of job generation.

- The same efficiency measures resulted in slower (but still positive) growth in energy supply chains, including oil, gas, and electric power. For every new job foregone in these sectors, however, more than 50 new jobs have been created across the state’s diverse economy.

- Sectoral examination of these results indicate that job creation is in less energy intensive services and other categories, further compounding California’s aggregate efficiency improvements and facilitating the economy’s transition to a low carbon future.
