This is one of the nice things about LA.

Look at the supportive comments given to the OP about how it's only been in LA a few days, and that he should give it a try, and if he doesn't like it, Texas is still there.

Anywhere else...a complaint about living in a city that soon would turn into a barrage of "just get out of here already/we're glad you're leaving, etc", and some comments possibly bordering on hate.

There's something in LA that doesn't make people this way, and it's very refreshing. You don't feel like you're in some cult, thankfully, most cities are like that.

Of course. That's what I like about LA too. It's a very humbled city, not like what I thought at all cus the movies make it seem as though everyone's a materialistic narcissist. That is only true of the obviously Hollywood esque scene. But for the most part Angelenos are very cool, not super friendly but still laid back.

That we are. It's the over-hyped views of LA via the media that give this place such a warped reputation. On the flip side, we're not all food-truck-crazed, hipster, fixed-framed bike riding eastside dwellers either. This has been the latest depiction of the city as well...

Transplants cause 90% of negative LA stereotypes.

It seems every time you see LA on TV lately, it's shot in Echo Park. Which would make sense.

x2. What you are describing could have been researched in advance.

Exactly, which doesn't fully represent LA either... Same with New York mainly being depicted by Manhattan and the like. It's all smoke and mirrors.
