I currently work for a Big 4 Accounting Firm in another state, and I am wonder what the offices in LA area are like. I am considering requesting a transfer in the future.

Does anyone have any info?

What specifically are you looking for? The offices are pretty much the same from city to city. I worked for E&Y in Dallas. The only differences in the offices were the people and the personalities.

I work for the same firm, and am wondering if they do salary adjustments when moving to a city with a much higher cost of living such as LA.

I am also wondering how easy it is to get a transfer to an office in Southern California?

You'll need to check with HR. I don't remember if they do cost of living adjustments or not. If they don't, I wouldn't come out here. Coming out here on what you make now will require you to substantially reduce your standard of living.

It will depend on what group you are in and what demand they have for staff. I was in the business valuation group, which is very small relative to E&Y as a whole, so there weren't always positions available to move around. However, I do know of a girl that transferred from Dallas to Chicago. She got a very small pay bump, but that's it.
