I'm sure you realize how ignorant your question is and how much of a broad generalization the girl you met made. I feel like you shouldn't have felt the need to ask your question because it just doesn't make sense. I hear stereotypes about many places around the world, but I know well enough those stereotypes don't apply to every single person.
Sums up the thread. One size does definitely not fit all!

Oh get off your high horse. There is a lot of stereotypes that are true and I could confirm few myself about the countries/cities I've lived in.

You see all types of people here. While you do see less overweight people than say in the south or the Midwest, there are still plenty of them.

Less smokers than you see other states, but you still see people smoking.

I guess if you watch too much TV you get an image of LA and think it's all "Entourage" or "BH 90210".

So to use that logic everyone in Dallas must live in big houses, and have cattle, and work in the oil business.

I don't have a high horse. I don't know why you have an attitude.

Los Angeles has millions and millions of female residents. We're not all the same; your question was an ignorant one. Your question has been answered. Take it or leave it.

Yes, and for someone who has never been to Dallas that might seem like reality. I'm from Moscow but lived all over the world including U.S. and people have a lot of generalizations about my city, I don't really expect them to know any better if they've never been there. I did meet people who thought Moscow was a 3rd world city full of polar bears.

I have an attitude because your OTT sarcasm isn't appreciated where I have simply asked for comments on someone's description of a city I've never been to.

And you, as an American, really don't want to talk to me about ignorance when most likely you wouldn't be able to tell what is what on a world map.

Well Cali, is in Columbia, which is in South America.

Los Angeles is in California or CA for short.

Actually they don't. But you would have to live here to know that.

You're the one who started a ridiculous thread, not us.

And you're not in Moscow either, maybe Moscow, Idaho.

Most young women transplants within 15 miles of Hollywood are
women trying to be actresses, models, musicians or behind the scene people in the entertainment industry. Still others are groupies or are trying to meet someone rich and famous. Others just plain move to LA because it seems exciting and they want to get the hell out of their boring home town in the mid-west. Most wind up waiting tables until they either meet someone rich or they give up and move out of LA. Some resort to being "escorts" (high paid hookers) or they become realtors when they hit age 40.

Certain bars (BOA steakhouse, Trousdale, 1 OAK) have nothing BUT wannabe models. If you're just a 5 then you won't fit in.

It really all depends on where in LA and what type of crowd you run with.

Generally though, there are more single men than single women in LA. So in terms of odds, it is much more difficult for men. Women have their pick of the litter there.

Even average girl next door types get good looking, in shape men, who used to moonlight in porn, and now are CEO of a tech start up in Santa Monica, with a rehabbed beach home in Venice and a luxury rental in SF on the side.
